At TRUE Engineering we are always in the market for new, cutting edge equipment, to help us work more efficiently. Surveying requires a very high level of precision; because of this we use Leica Total Stations and Trimble GPS RTK systems to obtain sub-millimeter accuracy. As you can imagine, with a "total loss" fire, we are replacing substantial equipment. Some of the best are as follows:
Trimble® GeoXT™ handheld, from the GeoExplorer® series, combines submeter GPS with Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ 2003 software for Pocket PCs in one rugged unit. The synergy between GPS and Windows Mobile software lets us concentrate on what's important: collecting and maintaining high-quality data for Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This unit also allows us to prepare very detailed conceptual plans, saving time, money and headaches, by giving us a much better idea of a site's existing conditions.

Although the Majority of our computers were only 6 months old, they've all been replaced by brand new Dell Systems. The OptiPlexTM GX620 Technology Leader Next generation scalable desktop offering the latest Intel® Pentium® 4 Processors, 800MHz Front Side Bus, next generation Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM memory, PCI Express bus, Serial ATA and Integrated Gigabit Ethernet designed to deliver outstanding performance and reliability with low total operating costs.
How could we live without this piece of equipment? We anticipate a new service using the Ricoh where our clients would be able to order prints of permits, current plans, and other pertinent documents online. Ricoh Aficio 240RW System is a compact "all-in-one" -copy, print, and scan- wide format digital imaging system specifically designed for lower-volume users. It sets a new standard for small footprint, affordability, superior image quality, and flexibility in a wide format system.
When your business has a fire, going "paperless" seems to be a no-brainer, but this machine actually makes it possible. The Konica Minolta C350 has replaced our photocopier, scanner, and multiple printers. Because of its ease of use, we will be scanning anything worthy of keeping and backup up electronically. Although we have only used the e-filing system for a limited amount of time we have found it extremely handy.
Phone System - Phones? Big deal you say? You wouldn't believe what the new phone systems can do! Although our old phones had the standard voicemail, intercom & the like, these new phones are amazing! In addition to storing 500 numbers, you can also send the voicemail to email and you can connect the phone anywhere in the world with good internet and have the same funtionality as if it were at your desk.
Server - Although our old server (only 2 years old) was capable of this same feature, we now have set up our network to have much easier access by our staff. Certain employees can now have secure access to the desktop remotely (ie: anywhere with internet). This access would have been invaluable after the fire however we also believe that it will be a great resource for our employees as the workplace changes into the cyberoffice. Our migration to the paperless office makes this feature all the more valuable.
